We host weddings, gatherings, and overnight stays for people who want to celebrate somewhere that feels genuinely theirs — not rented, not rushed, not ordinary. Wayne and Lydia Nelson or their staff are on the property for every event, because this place was built on the belief that the people who welcome you are as important as the place itself.

When you book Open Country Farm for your wedding, the entire property is yours — the auditorium, the grounds, the outdoor ceremony spaces, and the cabins. No other events run alongside yours. No shared parking lots, no borrowed hallways, no strangers in the background of your photographs. Your wedding party wakes up on the property the next morning, eats breakfast on the prairie, and carries the night into the day after. Our three current cabins the Aspen, the Cottonwood, and the Spruce are not interchangeable rooms — each cabin was designed with its own personality, its own warmth, and its own way of making you feel at home in the middle of the open country. Seventy minutes from Calgary, you wake up to Alberta prairie, a continental breakfast, and nothing on the agenda unless you put it there. Whether you come alone, as a couple, or as an event group claiming the every stay — the cabins are the reason people stop leaving when the evening ends.

Open Country Farm's AV-equipped auditorium seats up to 120 and opens onto a property that includes a UDisc-certified disc golf course, outdoor grounds, and private cabins for the team members who stay the night. Seventy minutes from Calgary, it is close enough to be practical and far enough to feel like you've actually left. When the day's sessions end, the space shifts — fire pit, open air, no agenda. That transition is where team cultures actually change.
